Hiking in the pleasant bottom of the MIA canyon. The easy-going doesn't last long...
Just before the canyon slots up, we head north up a side wash that turns into an open slope. Our goal is to cross over the pass of the north-south ridge directly ahead to get to the east side of the canyon.
Nearing the pass of the north-south ridge...
Continuing east along the base of the cliffs, fighting a few manzanita bushes along the way. (This photo is looking back at the north-south ridge pass that we just came from.)
Now we're heading southeast down another debris field/trail-of-use.
We scramble back into the bottom of the MIA canyon very close to the confluence with Kolob Creek.
And finally we have made it down to Kolob Creek! This boulder marks the start/end of the MIA route and often has a cairn sitting on top.
And now the fun begins! It's time to wander down lonely lower Kolob Creek.
