Before heading out, I explored down to the headwaters of the Left Fork to see a lovely slot section flowing from spring melt.  |
Now it's time to pay the piper. The hike up out of Wildcat Canyon is a bit of a slog.  |
The upper mile of Wildcat is overgrown and you will be fighting logs and bushes; I won't pretend that this part is fun.  |
To avoid the last quarter mile of bushwhacking, you can scramble up the lava flow.  |
