Route-finding excitement in the rugged Zion wilderness...
Once up on the bypass ridge, the hiking is temporarily easier with wonderful open views.
Approaching the end of the ridge, we will soon hike down into the valley on the right.
We head down the little slickrock wash affectionately known as the Giant Staircase.
Soon enough, we come to a spot that looks like a completely vertical drop...
"Holy sh*t!!! We have to go down that?"
We carefully make our way down the steep little slickrock chute...
...and then exit left to a sandy manzanita hill that parallels the chute.
Following the brushy drainage downhill until it ends gets us into a crack overlooking the Right Fork. Then we back up a bit and traverse right over a large slickrock slab and...
...we find our way onto this convenient ramp that takes us down to only a few feet above the canyon.
A short rap off a tree gets us down to the floor of the Right Fork.
