Route-finding excitement in the rugged Zion wilderness... |
Once up on the bypass ridge, the hiking is temporarily easier with wonderful open views. |
Approaching the end of the ridge, we will soon hike down into the valley on the right. |
We head down the little slickrock wash affectionately known as the Giant Staircase. |
Soon enough, we come to a spot that looks like a completely vertical drop... |
"Holy sh*t!!! We have to go down that?" |
We carefully make our way down the steep little slickrock chute... |
...and then exit left to a sandy manzanita hill that parallels the chute. |
Following the brushy drainage downhill until it ends gets us into a crack overlooking the Right Fork. Then we back up a bit and traverse right over a large slickrock slab and... |
...we find our way onto this convenient ramp that takes us down to only a few feet above the canyon. |
A short rap off a tree gets us down to the floor of the Right Fork. |
