Getting closer to the impressive Eagle Crags formations! |
The trail heads south and ends on the east side of the Eagle Crags. |
A wonderful view at the end of the trail; this should be the turnaround point for most hikers. |
For those looking to hike up to Lower Mountain, the faint unmaintained trail continues to the south. This route is strenuous and navigating the trail(s) of use may be difficult. |
The tedious trail hugs the eastern slopes of the Vermillion Cliffs and traverses 16 gullies like this. |
This spire formation is a good landmark. When you are only one gully away from the spire, the trail will turn right (west) to head straight up the slopes towards the base of Lower Mountain. |
Heading up the steep and sandy slope! |
The trail then follows a shelf along the base of the cliffs. |
