Getting closer to the impressive Eagle Crags formations!

The trail heads south and ends on the east side of the Eagle Crags.

A wonderful view at the end of the trail; this should be the turnaround point for most hikers.

For those looking to hike up to Lower Mountain, the faint unmaintained trail continues to the south. This route is strenuous and navigating the trail(s) of use may be difficult.

The tedious trail hugs the eastern slopes of the Vermillion Cliffs and traverses 16 gullies like this.

This spire formation is a good landmark. When you are only one gully away from the spire, the trail will turn right (west) to head straight up the slopes towards the base of Lower Mountain.

The trail then follows a shelf along the base of the cliffs.
