BEHUNIN CANYON

The approach to Behunin Canyon is via the long uphill slog on the West Rim Trail.  |
After four miles of hiking and roughly 2000 feet of elevation gain, we reach the saddle between Behunin and lower Telephone Canyon.  |
Leaving the West Rim Trail, we get a great view as we make our way down a large sandstone shelf into Behunin Canyon.  |

The upper section of canyon is overgrown, but it's easy enough to find a path through.  |

| After roughly .8 miles in the upper section of Behunin, the canyon abruptly turns left and opens up. Now things are going to get interesting. |
