After hiking in the open wash for a few hours, the exit ridge in the distance is a welcome sight!

A few markers indicate the exit from the river and the start of the short but strenuous uphill slog to the Left Fork Trailhead.

A final look up at the top of the exit ridge. Once you make it to the top of that black lava outcropping, it's a flat half mile to the parking lot.
