CADILLAC SOUTH RIDGE TRAIL
Hiking Guide Photos 1 2
The Featherbed--an idyllic little pond located at a break in the ridge line. |
Looking south back down at the Featherbed and the ridge that we came up from. |
The trail goes up and up through the interesting granite formations! |
The beautiful view looking south. While Mt. Desert Island is covered in lush vegetation, Cadillac Mountain gives it its namesake barren look from sea. |
Standing at the junction with the Cadillac West Face Trail. |
Near the summit, the trail runs close to the access road for a brief stint. The feeling of wilderness will be lost. |
A minor little scramble close to the top of the trail. |
And finally, a lovely view from the top of Cadillac Mountain! Seeing so many cars and tourists walking the summit loop might be a bit of a culture shock after hiking the isolated trail! |
