All trail descriptions on Joe's Guide to Acadia National Park include a little snippet of map to illustrate the route and show the nearby parking areas and trail junctions. Trails are colored in red and carriage roads in green. Parking areas, important landmarks, carriage road intersection post numbers, and Rockefeller's classic carriage road bridges are all labeled to help with navigation. Note that the map snippets on this site are based on historic USGS topographic maps; current trails (highlighted in red) may deviate slightly from the older dashed lines. Park boundaries have also changed slightly over the years.
If you plan on doing extensive hiking, it is still recommended that you carry a map of the entire park with you since the maze of intersecting trails and carriage roads can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate. The best pocket map for the park is the Map Adventures Acadia National Park Trail Map. It includes up-to-date trail names, mileage for sections of trail, peak names, and elevations, and carriage road intersection post numbers.
