| PINE CREEK (Middle Pine Creek) | |
Soon enough, the canyon opens up and we're not quite subterranean anymore.
Looking up at one of the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel windows. The constant sound of traffic reminds you
that you are far from being in the "wilderness."
Starting the forth rappel. "Did I leave the iron on?"
Looking back up at the fourth rappel.
The beautiful grotto beneath the final free rappel marks the end of the technical section
and the return to the world of the living.
Time for the slog out. Pine Creek is littered with enormous boulders that make the hike out a bit slow.
Standing underneath the impressive Great Arch. It's only about half a mile
to reach the exit at the second switchback.
