So much has been written about Detroit's glorious past and its current difficulties that I don't feel compelled to regurgitate it here except to say that beauty can be found in both the pretty and the gritty sides of the city. While "ruin porn" has become a dirty word to some, one must be careful to not take the grandiose pseudo-journalistic leap that urban decay represents the totality of Detroit. My photographs aren't intended to paint the city in a negative light or an overly rosy light either; they are simply captures of interesting places and moments in time.
